Sodastream gas cylinder adapter

This adapter screws onto the top of the old style 35ltr sodastream cylinder and allows its use with either a standard S30 valve or a Pin valve for injecting CO2 into your homebrew beer barrels.

The adapter is a two piece item with the larger, knurled section containing an internal screw thread that is used to attach the adapter to the 35ltr, old style, sodastream cylinders. The second, thin bit is a hollow tube that fits inside the knurled holder and is free to move within it, one cylinder inside another, similar in operation to a piston moving inside its housing. When screwed in place, the inner tube sits a couple of mm above the valve release on the gas cylinder. When the thin, upper cylinder is pressed into a barrel valve (S30 style or pin valve), the pressure of the user pressing down against the barrel causes the other end of the thin adapter tube to depress the sodastream valve and release the gas up the hollow tube and into the barrel.

So as to maintain an airtight seal in the barrel valve, the thin tube is approx 9mm diameter and the outlet hole at the top is 3mm diameter to allow it to fit over the pin in a pin valve.

As the screw thread is a completely different design on the new 60ltr bottles, this adapter is not suitable for use with the new, larger gas cylinders.
