Originally brewed to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar, this superb 3kg kit originally produced 40 pints of dark chestnut coloured beer which has sweet fruit flavours cleverly blended with luscious malted barley for a full flavoured ale with a smooth dry finish at an average ABV of 4.5%
Woodfordes have recently launched this in updated packaging and it is now designated as making 32 pints at 5.5% ABV.
"Fantastic Kit. This is the first time I have made this one. It has a rich, nutty taste and is very drinkable if you enjoy an Ale tasting drink. I would say it tastes much like Old Speckled Hen. Nice chestnut colour, very easy to make - waiting for it to clear is much harder."

"I made this as a taster for the shop. It proved to be one of the most popular I've had and made this kit one of our top selling lines. You can vary the hop strength via the enclosed hop sachet and it produces a rich, malty ale with a long, smooth finish. When it is newly made, I found it had a slight peppery taste, but after about 8 weeks, the bitterness became VERY pronounced and was a little harsh, though this only happened in the 2 gallons used as a taster in the shop - the three gallons I took home didn't last long enough to become overly bitter ! I prefer it to the Wherry."
