The Quick Serve tap with a back nut fits to brewing bins and wine fermenters or can be used as a spare tap (without the backnut) for the basic 2 and 5 gallon barrels supplied to us by Youngs and Ritchies since 2009. As a simple twist open/close paddle tap, it makes it very easy to serve your home made beer, lager or cider.
Because of the short, tapered, threaded shank, it is unsuitable for use as a replacement on the thicker walled King Kegs that we stock.
The thicker bodied, straight shank Plastic Fermenter tap with Washer and Back nut is a replacement for the old Octagonal headed Drum taps and suitable for fitting to both the Fermenters and King Kegs. It will also accept the float system used in King Keg Top Tap Barrels
Fitting a tap to your fermenting vessel makes it easy to rack the beer or wine off the yeast at the end of primary fermentation. You could also fit it to the secondary storage vessel and use it to facilitate bottling wine if making a 30 bottle wine kit.
The washers on both quickserve and plastic fermenter taps become compressed with use and my cause your barrel/fermenter to leak and should be changed on a regular basis if showing signs of compression, cracking or causing leaks.
The backnut is a standard 3/4" BSP (approx 20mm internal diameter) nut that can be used with both taps.
